In an endeavour to harness the immense potential of regional resources and empower local communities, the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative has taken root in the North Garo Hills district. This transformative program aims to identify and promote a unique product that encapsulates the region’s essence and capabilities. With an abundant supply of premium-quality bananas, North Garo Hills has chosen this versatile fruit as its designated ODOP, ushering in a new era of growth and prosperity.
The selection of bananas as the ODOP aligns perfectly with the Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, which seeks to elevate and empower food processing units across the country. By linking the ODOP to the PMFME scheme, North Garo Hills intends to bolster its local economy by promoting value addition and ensuring sustainability within the banana industry.
This introduction marks the beginning of an exciting journey that embraces the rich heritage and agricultural heritage of North Garo Hills while integrating it seamlessly with the national vision for economic development through the PMFME scheme. Together, we embark on a path that empowers local farmers, fosters entrepreneurship, and enhances the overall prosperity of the region, all centered around the versatile and nutritious banana.

3. List of activities being undertaken by district administration under ODOP initiative

• District administration is supporting ODOP initiative through convergence with different departments and supporting through PMFME Scheme in convergence with Department of Agriculture and Farmers welfare.

4. Funding support available, with clearly laid out procedures to avail the same

• PMFME (Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of micro food processing enterprise)-ODOP
• PMFME procedure:
• • Interested Beneficiaries firstly register in the PMFME portal along with their documents like aadhar, pan card, voters id, phone numbers, their address and email id
    After which the DRP goes for inspection to proceed with the project.
  • After registering,the registration id number and the activation link is sent to the applicant’s email to activate it and to set a one time password to log into its own account.
  • After which the DRP, logs in into the portal and makes the DPR (detailed project report) along with the required documents.
  • After submitting the DPR, the next step is the DRP level where the concerned DRP of the District re checks the report and sumits to the DLC for further recommendations.
  • The concerned DLC then checks the submitted DPR and further recommend it to the preference Banks for approval.
  • The beneficiaries with the concerned DRP after recommendation visits the Bank and works on the Project report until it approves. The bank also goes for inspection before its approval.
