Description

The department of Handloom weaving is a cottage based industry whose main business is production of handloom fabrics. Under the office of the undersigned there are several Handloom Production Centres and Handloom Production Units and one Weaving Training Centre. In these centres fabrics are produced of various types of cloth like Dakmanda,Mekhala,Bihu gamcha,Shawl,Debra,Chaddar,Jainsem and than. In Weaving Training Centre, Resubelpara training are being conducted every year. 1 (one ) year Artisan course training was conducted here. Skill up gradation training on Silk weaving is being conducted here every year. Trainees are paid stipend @ Rs.75/- per day for 120 days. 10 Nos. Silk trainees is being trained this year.

Schemes/Programme offered by the Department.

During the year 2014-2015 the office of the undersigned have received Sanctions for 3 (three) Schemes, namely:-
(1) "Intensive Production of Handloom fabrics".
(2) "Support to 3300 Silk weavers including up gradation of Skill" and
(3) "Assistance for Modernization of Handloom".

Under the Scheme "Intensive Production of Handloom fabrics" fund were provided to pay wages to the weavers who were engaged in different centres of the department. Under the "Support to 3300 Silk weavers including up gradation of Skill" fund has already been provided to train Silk weavers. 10 Nos. Silk weavers are being trained in Silk weaving in Weaving Training Centre, Resubelpara.

Till now, fly Shuttle frame loom is being used in departmental centres as well as private weavers. This will still be continued in departmental centres. In addition to that 2 Nos Powerlooms have already been installed at Decorative Textile Production Centre, Dilma. Fund has already been sanctioned during 2014-15 to run this Powerloom. 3 Nos. In-service personnels were sent to Training Research Association, Ghaziabad ( U.P) for acquiring advanced training in Powerloom during 2014-15. This year also another 3 Nos. In-Service personnels will be sent for training. 20 Nos. expert weavers will be trained in Power loom weaving. They will be paid stipend @ Rs.100/- per day for 180 days. To run and maintain this Powerloom 1 No. Master Trainer is being engaged.
